Tips on Cleaning Your Carpet
Flooring and carpets are the foundation of any home. They are in constant use and it can be difficult to keep on top of them, in terms of cleaning. Clean carpets can make a huge difference to your entire house, making the whole place look a lot cleaner. Below we have a few tips on how to firstly prevent your carpets from getting too dirty and also how to clean them if they do get too dirty.
Vacuum often
To keep up-to-date with the cleaning of your carpets be sure to vacuum regularly, particularly high-traffic areas such as entrance hall areas. Vacuuming at least twice a week will prevent this build-up and protect your carpets. You could also invest in a small, lightweight, handheld vacuum cleaner to tackle stairways and those awkward nooks and crannies.
Use mats & slippers
It’s very important to use entrance mats, not only to prevent slips but to keep the house tidy. Especially during the winter months to stop dirt and debris being brought through onto the carpet. Also, be sure to remove your outdoor shoes and replace with some house slippers when walking through the house. This again will prevent excess dirt from your shoes being trodden into your carpet.
Clean stains straight away
The most important thing to do when a stain happens is to clean it immediately. The longer the stain is left the more time it will have to react with the carpet making it harder to remove. Also, where possible try to use natural cleaning products. If this doesn’t work you should then, of course, use white vinegar, baking soda or cleaning products. This will limit the amount of chemical damage to your carpet.
