Example of a Commercial Cleaning Checklist

Its quite easy when running a business to ignore the skittering dust bunnies as they make their way across the office floor. We understand that you will have deadlines or client quires that are more important to worry about rather than overflowing bins and the offices slightly odd aroma.  However a clean office is important. Not only does it have health benefits but it will also boost employee productivity. A clean workplace helps your business put its best face forward for visitors, clients and customers. A basic office cleaning checklist can help establish a regular cleaning routine.

To create a cleaning checklist begin by establishing zones such as, reception/common area, conference room, toilets, break room/kitchen and offices/cubicles. Depending on your business you may have additional areas such as a warehouse etc. Within each zone list the cleaning tasks that need to be completed. You should then place a certain employee on a different zone on a rota based system every week therefore ensuring that your office space is kept clean and tidy.

 Office Cleaning Checklist Example

 Reception/Common Areas

      • Straighten reception mats
      • Clean Front door/window glass inside and out
      • Dust reception area tables, countertops and all hard surfaces
      • Vacuum all carpet and upholstered furniture
      • Sweep all hard surface flooring
      • Wipe down/disinfect phones
      • Empty all bins, replace bin liners

Conference Room

          • Dust filing cabinets, tables, countertops, bookshelves and all hard surfaces
          • Vacuum all carpet and sweep hard surface flooring
          • Vacuum upholstered furniture
          • Dust tables and all flat surfaces
          • Wipe down and disinfect all phones
          • Empty all bins, replace bin liners

Toilets

            • Clean/Disinfect all hard surfaces
            • Sweep and Mop hard surface flooring
            • Wipe and disinfect all partitions
            • Clean/Disinfect urinals and toilets
            • Refill all consumables

Break Room/Kitchen

              • Wipe/Disinfect all hard surfaces (Table, Countertops, Refrigerator, Cabinets)
              • Sweep/Mop Hard surface flooring
              • Wipe/Disinfect outside and inside of microwave
              • Refill Consumables
              • Empty all bins and replace bin liners

Offices/Cubicles

                • Dust filing cabinets, tables, bookshelves and all hard surfaces
                • Vacuum all carpet and sweep hard surface flooring
                • Dust desks and all flat surfaces
                • Dust all computer areas including fax machines and photocopiers
                • Wipe and Disinfect all telephones
                • Empty all bins and replace bin liners
